Spring Professional Learning

Session Contents:

Elementary (K-5) sessions will include:

• Building Tomorrow’s Citizens: The Power of Civics Education
• Civics Integration with English Language Arts and Math
• Civil Discourse in the Elementary Classroom

Secondary (6-12) sessions will include:

• Federalism for Every Learner: Strategies that Support Understanding
• Speak Up, Listen Well: The Art of Civil Discourse
• There is No “Escaping” Student Centered Learning!

Event policies:

• Registrations are accepted on a first submitted, first accepted basis.
• Request for replacements, sending someone in your place, or saving a seat will not be accepted.
• Request to cancel a registration should come from the participant or participant's supervisor.
• Capacity 50 Elementary and 50 Secondary for a total of 100 participants.
• All participants will be scanned in and out of the session to document attendance.
• Scans in and out will generate a link to the event evaluation in the Civics Scheduler.
• An event evaluation must be completed in full for a Certificate of Attendance to be generated in the Civics Scheduler showing hours earned.
• The generation of the Certificate of Attendance will enable the processing of the Travel Allowance.
• To receive the full Travel Allowance ($50), all sessions must be attended.
• All requested documents for the Travel Allowance must be submitted by the date listed on the forms.
• The DocuSign file from NEFEC must be completed within two weeks of the event’s conclusion for the Travel Allowance to be paid.
• Please allow for up to six week for payment to be sent by USPS.
• Attendees are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.
• FDOE does not provide a stipend for attending this professional learning event. Please check with your district to see what it can provide you.
